About the Job
Our Client, is a private non-profit special education school, is looking for an Physical Therapist Assistant.
Location: Bellmawr, NJ
Position Type: Contract
Schedule: Day Shift (Monday to Friday)
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Participate in the preadmission interview process for new students
• Assist in developing goals and objectives for students based on their physical needs
• Provide physical therapy to students as recommended by their IEP under the guidance of a Physical Therapist
• Provide classroom support in gross motor activities
• Participate in an integrated approach of service delivery
• Follow and implement behavior management plans as developed by school psychologist , physical therapist and classroom teacher
• Consult with classroom staff regarding positioning of students
• Train classroom staff in the use of adaptive equipment as directed by a Physical Therapist
• Recommend and order equipment to meet student needs as deemed necessary by a Physical Therapist
• Assist Physical Therapist keeping inventory of all adaptive equipment
• Maintain a log of services rendered as designated by a Physical Therapist
• Assist Physical Therapist in completing monthly semi report and submit at the first of each month
• Be available to parents for discussion of physical therapy program
• Participate in scheduled staff, department and case management meetings.
• Participate in department meetings to discuss, plan, and problem solve for the betterment of the physical therapy department
• Attend workshops and in-service programs to aid in professional development
• Demonstrate appropriate planning
• Collect data weekly
• Assist Physical Therapist in submitting narrative present level
• Assist Physical Therapist in submitting progress reports quarterly
• Implement and follow administrative regulations and directives as stated in Board Policy and State Law
• Collaborate with other staff members in educational and therapeutic matters, maintaining positive lines of communication
• Serve on volunteer committees
• Maintain communication with parents
• Be knowledgeable about all medical and emergency policies and work in conjunction with the school nurse
• Become familiar with and implement the school's philosophy, rules, and personnel policies
• Uphold confidentiality at all times.
• Speak positively about Client.
• Maintain a professional and positive attitude.
• Maintain a positive working relationship with staff members.
• Demonstrate self-motivation and a willingness to learn.
• Accept constructive criticism.
• Maintain a professional appearance.
• Demonstrate the ability to multi-task.

• Perform any other duties as required by Client Administrators
QUALIFICATIONS:
• New Jersey Department of Education School Physical Therapist Assistant
• CPR Certification (Preferred)
• Must have a current physical and mantoux, successfully completed a drug and alcohol screening and also undergo a criminal history background check and finger printing pursuant to N.J.S.A.
