The Physical Security Systems Engineer serves as a technical subject matter expert for the Physical Security systems (CCTV, Biometrics, Access Control Systems, etc.), policies, and procedures. The successful candidate will be able to operate physical security IT systems, evaluate and recommend security program enhancements based on operating results, trends, statistics, and problems; and make appropriate recommendations to the security management team.
Major duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Serves as the Physical Security IT system subject matter expert providing services including assisting in managing the Security Program
- Designs, operates, and administers Physical Security IT systems (BioConnect, Lenel, CCure, Exacq, and others) in compliance with policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure uninterrupted and uninhibited operations and in an exemplary, subject matter expert manner
- Respond to alarms, security incidents, security events, and other system outages and events on an on-call rotation
- Routinely exercising independent discretion and judgment to oversee all physical security systems in an exemplary manner
- Ability to manage projects related to physical security improvements, and new data center builds, using security system management best practice
- Resolving and responding to complaints regarding physical security systems and operations in an exemplary manner
- Designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating training plans, business systems, and policies to aid in increased awareness and organizational physical security
- Updating and assigning access levels, processing requests for system access, and scheduling doors to be opened and closed
- Provisioning access for customers, employees, and contractors when required.
- Oversight of contractors and vendors performing physical security work including contracted guard forces, physical security vendors, etc.
- Collaborating with other technology staff to conduct operational testing, ensuring backups are maintained and reliable, ensuring Physical Security IT systems operate securely and efficiently, and ensuring system maintenance is conducted for the reliability of systems
- Conducts physical security inspections, surveys, and studies designed to improve the protection of DataBank physical facilities, employees, visitors, and other assets
- Conducts installations, tests, and preventative maintenance of installed CCTV, Access Control, Intrusion Detection Systems, Panic Alarms, and other Systems to ensure proper operation and evaluate corrective/preventative maintenance
- Knowledge of methods and controls to protect an organization from natural or man-made threats to physical locations where information systems equipment is located or work is performed
- Inspect physical security equipment for adequacy, efficiency, and need for improvement
- Identifies vulnerabilities and recommends corrective or mitigating actions
- Develop facility/service policies, standard operating procedures, and post orders in accordance with appropriate guidelines for approval by higher-level supervisors
- Represents Physical Security at meetings, with internal and external customers, as they relate to physical security
- Conducts facility and system-wide vulnerability assessments in conjunction with the CISO
- Develops various physical security-related documents, spreadsheets, graphs, reports, and presentations using various automated systems and software packages, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, BioConnect, Exacq, Lenel, and CCure
- Maintains a Physical Security Tracking report to ensure physical security surveys are followed up promptly
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of previous physical security, security, and or IT systems administration
- Ability to read schematics and as-built diagrams
- Evaluate and process change orders
- Prepare clear and concise reports
- Assess physical security needs and apply resources to attain effective outcomes
- Maintain databases of employees, vendors, and contractors
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Meet schedules and deadlines of the work
- Follow verbal and written instructions
- Managing and monitoring budgets
- Interpret and manage contracts

- Windows Server IT Administrator skills (certifications suggested)
- General computer skills including Windows Operating System, Office365, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Must have good physical dexterity, good eyesight and hearing
- Above average verbal communication skills as well as the social skills to interact with the public, internal and external customers, and persons of varying backgrounds and personalities
- Public Safety and Security knowledge/experience
