Job Details
Key Responsibilities:
Assessment & Diagnosis:
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations to assess patients’ mental health, including interviews, medical histories, and physical exams.
- Utilize diagnostic tools, including standardized psychiatric tests and diagnostic criteria (e.g., DSM-5), to identify mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder.
Treatment & Care Planning:
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment and diagnosis.
- Prescribe, manage, and monitor psychiatric medications, adjusting dosages as necessary.
- Provide psychotherapy, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), supportive therapy, or other relevant modalities.
- Coordinate with other healthcare providers (psychologists, social workers, nurses) to ensure holistic patient care.
Patient Education & Support:
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
- Provide ongoing support and crisis intervention for patients, including those with severe psychiatric conditions or in acute distress.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.
- Prepare and submit medical reports, including progress notes, assessments, and treatment plans, as required.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with other healthcare professionals, such as therapists, nurses, and social workers, to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
- Participate in team meetings, case discussions, and care coordination efforts.
- Compliance & Ethical Practice:
- Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines related to psychiatric practice.
- Stay current with developments in psychiatry through continuing education and professional development.
