Responsibilities
Collect and process blood specimens for testing and performs multiple clerical and processing functions.
+ May draw and collect blood samples according to policy.
+ Receive, centrifuge, accession, process, and transport specimens.
+ Verifie all related records.
+ Work pending lists, order add-on tests, and resolve duplicate orders.
+ Set up instruments.
+ Maintain, clean, and sterilize equipment and work area following safety, cleanliness, and infection control procedures.
+ Perform clerical duties which may include answering phones, reviewing EKGs, collecting patient demographic data for patient registration, ordering tests, ABNs, data entry and filing.
Requirements
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
+ Preferred Credential(s):• BLS Provider. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.• Certification specializing in Phlebotomy credentialed from the American Society for ClinicalPathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC).• Phlebotomy Tech.• Medical Laboratory Assistant credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board ofCertification (ASCP-BOC).• Medical Laboratory Assistant credentialed from the American Medical Technologists (AMT).• Tech credentialed from the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians. All issuing authoritiesaccepted.
Education:
+ High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
+ Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience,if applicable.
