Pride Health is hiring a Phlebotomist to support our client’s medical facility based in Houston TX. This is a 3-month assignment with the possibility of a contract-to-hire opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!
Job Title: Phlebotomist
Location: Houston TX
Duration: 3 Months+
Schedule:8AM-5PM Monday-Friday, some Fridays released early
Pay Range: $20.00 per hour
Required : Phlebotomy – OGBYN, the more experience the better
*Pay rate is based on years of experience and educational qualifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform venipuncture, capillary punctures, and specimen collection using appropriate techniques.
Label and process specimens according to established protocols.
Instruct patients on urine collection procedures and manage specimen allocations.
Prepare equipment and ensure proper maintenance, cleaning, and sterilization of lab instruments.
Monitor laboratory equipment for preventive maintenance and quality control checks.
Enter laboratory test results accurately into the computer system and respond promptly to abnormal or panic values.
Distribute laboratory reports and maintain clear documentation.
Monitor biohazard waste and ensure safe disposal procedures.
Adhere to patient confidentiality policies and comply with all organizational and regulatory standards.
Prioritize tasks effectively to support clinical operations and provide timely results for healthcare providers.
Perform clerical duties and assist with customer service inquiries, including phone etiquette and patient interactions.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school graduate or GED equivalent.
Current certification or registration as a Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist, or ability to obtain certification within 180 days of employment. (Note: Phlebotomists hired before certification must perform at the level of a certified Phlebotomist.)
Basic computer literacy and familiarity with laboratory data entry systems.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Knowledge of laboratory techniques, medical terminology, and laboratory equipment.
Ability to perform routine blood and urine tests with accuracy.
Skills in maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 1 year of experience in a healthcare or laboratory setting.
CLA or ASCP certification.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
