A Brief Overview

Under the direction of the Phlebotomy/POC Supervisor coordinates the operation of the Outpatient Service Center. Is responsible for the complete and accurate registration of all patients and phlebotomy.


What you will do

• Identifies the patient, always using two identifiers.
• Conducts initial interview with patients and obtains accurate demographic, insurance and health information according to registration policies and procedures.
• Performs specimen collection and ensures the proper identification of all patients and specimens. Ensures the collection of the correct type of specimen at the appropriate time. Understands and practices patient care associated with phlebotomy.
• Reviews quantities and expiration dates of supplies. Maintains inventory as needed for department. Assures maintenance of the office.
• Uses appropriate LIS functions and is familiar with downtime and recovery procedures.
• Performs other related duties as requested.

Education Qualifications

• Associate's Degree Associate degree in laboratory science preferred. Preferred

Experience Qualifications

• 1-3 years 3 Years as a phlebotomist in a hospital setting; Registrar training. Required

Licenses and Certifications

• ASCP - American Society of Clinical Pathologist PBT(ASCP) preferred Preferred
