About the Job
The VFP Pharmacy Group Pharmacy Technician works under the direct supervision of a Licensed Pharmacist. This position is responsible for various activities in the pharmacy department including picking, packaging and labeling medication. Other duties may include the input of prescriptions, answering phones and responding to questions. The certified pharmacy technician position includes interaction with fertility patients.

Essential Functions
- Receive and stock medications
- Fill medications using closely prescribed guidelines
- Affix labels to prescription medications
- Obtain necessary direction from the pharmacist as required
- Answer internal telephone calls responding to questions or requests
- Appropriately package patients prescription orders
- Ensure correct patient address labels for deliveries
- Delivering medication to patient at time of pick-up following HIPPA guidelines
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols
- Maintain a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules and protocols
- Based on operational needs the Pharmacy Technician may be assigned to other functions as required.
Requirements
- Detail oriented with ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruption
- Ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment, learn quickly, solve problems and make decisions
- Ability to stay focused and productive though tasks may be repetitive
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule for peak times
- Actively participates in the achievement of patient satisfaction
- Must work well in a team
- Minimum one (1) year experience preferred.
- Experience in mail order/retail pharmacy
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within a dispensing pharmacy.
- Valid Pharmacy Technician Registration issued by the Commonwealth of MA required
- Valid Pharmacy Technician Certification required
- The Technician will be responsible for obtaining the appropriate number of continuing education hours for licensure as required by the Commonwealth of MA.
- Standing, sitting, reaching, gasping, lifting, walking and kneeling.
- Able to lift up to 20 lbs.
