Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join our healthcare team. The Pharmacy Technician will assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, managing inventory, and providing excellent service to patients and healthcare providers. This role is critical in ensuring the safe, accurate, and efficient delivery of medications.
Key Responsibilities
Medication Preparation: Assist in preparing prescriptions, including counting, measuring, and labeling medications accurately.
Customer Service: Interact with patients and healthcare providers to address questions, resolve issues, and provide information about prescriptions and medications.
Inventory Management: Monitor, order, and maintain pharmacy inventory to ensure adequate supplies are available.
Data Entry: Accurately input prescription information into pharmacy software systems, maintaining confidentiality and compliance with regulatory standards.
Compounding: Prepare compounded medications under the supervision of a pharmacist, following proper protocols and safety guidelines.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all state, federal, and organizational regulations regarding medication storage, handling, and dispensing.
Collaboration: Support pharmacists and other team members in delivering efficient and effective pharmaceutical care.
Education: Assist patients with understanding dosage instructions, potential side effects, and medication storage requirements.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Completion of a certified pharmacy technician program preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
Active Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) from PTCB or ExCPT, as required by state regulations.
Experience:
Previous experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting preferred but not required for entry-level roles.
Skills & Competencies
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with pharmacy software and technology.
Knowledge of medical terminology, drug names, and common dosage forms.
