The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor assists the pharmacist in the medication use process, ensuring the delivery of competent and efficient pharmaceutical care / drug delivery at appropriate service levels through daily allocation and coordination of resources to assure that patient needs (neonate to geriatric, physicians, employees, and the public) are effectively met. This position requires taking responsibility within appropriate guidelines under the supervision of the pharmacist for many of the medication preparation and distribution duties. The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor functions in a multi-skilled environment, which requires the application of teamwork and flexibility to provide medications for neonate/infant through geriatric, depending on practice site. The incumbent is self-motivated and able to work independently within the confines of the Board of Pharmacy, both internal and external to the pharmacy department.
Responsibilities may include IV admixture, narcotic CII safe reports generation, Pyxis report generation, and pharmacy computer module maintenance. In addition to the tasks assigned as a pharmacy technician, the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor supervises efficient workflow of pharmacy operations and pharmacy technicians. The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor is responsible for the development and administration of training competencies and staff education. The pharmacy technician supervisor works with the appropriate director of pharmacy on the development of P&P as needed for new processes, equipment or scheduling. The incumbent performs analysis on the quantity and quality of output from the pharmacy department. The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor may also manage/create the schedule of other pharmacy employees, perform evaluations and have direct technician reports under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy or Designee . This position requires taking responsibility within appropriate guidelines under the supervision of the pharmacist for many of the medication preparation and distribution duties.
Qualifications:Required:
- One year in a clinical pharmacy setting
- Active National Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA)
