POSITION SUMMARY:
Assists the Pharmacist in providing service to all areas of the UW Health Northern Illinois Health System. Performs technical duties necessary to maintain the medication distribution system and possess the capability of learning multiple software systems. Exemplary customer service skills including collaborative working relationships with patients, multidisciplinary teams, and the public. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives, as well as Health System initiatives.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
High School diploma/GED or presently attending high school. Retail pharmacy or hospital experience is preferred, in particular in the following areas: unit dose distribution, compounding non-sterile medications, IV admixture including USP<797> and <800>, and automated dispensing machine technology.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Licensed or able to perform pharmacy technician duties as deemed by the IDFPR. Pharmacy Technician Certification or must obtain certification within 2 years of original licensure (unless licensed prior to 2007, in which case they are grandfathered in)
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Successful completion of annual clinical, age and job specific competencies and skill verification tools required. Good interpersonal, organizational and critical decision-making skills required. Proficiency and ability to use a computer and a variety of common office equipment. Ability to effectively communicate and develop collaborative working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public. Must be able to pass a pharmacy technician evaluation test with at least a 70% score. The evaluation test is administered by the HR Department.
