New York Cancer and Blood Specialists (NYCBS), a prominent and respected Oncology/Hematology group, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join a well-established and growing pure sub-specialty practice with academic affiliation. Practice manages a freestanding outpatient 7-day-per-week Cancer Center with extensive chemotherapy administration, Radiation Oncology, Pharmacy, and Research department.Port Jefferson, NY
In this role, you will:
- Maintains pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed medications and supplies, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipts, and removing outdated drugs.
- Maintain a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Organizes medications for pharmacists to dispense by reading medication orders and prescriptions in the EMR. Preparing labels, calculating quantities,
- Maintains records by calculating, recording, and issuing charges.
- Ensures medication availability by delivering medications to patients and departments.
- Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing information.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician. Valid license to practice the profession in New York.
- Thorough understanding of dosage administration and measurement, chemical compounds, medical brands, etc.
- Outstanding knowledge of MS Office and Pharmacy information systems. Good organizing skills.
- Excellent communication skills with a customer-oriented approach.
- Diversified job requiring alertness and ability to handle a heavy workload.
- 1 Plus year experience working with specialty Pharmacy or high-volume retail Pharmacy.
