Pharmacy Technician Inpatient

As an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital link in moving medications throughout the facility to enhance patient care. You will join a team that empowers every caregiver to make valuable contributions to patient-focused care, teaching and research activities. A caregiver in this position works varying shifts from 6:00AM - 9: 30PM.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding .
- Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner.
- Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections .
- Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, and document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities and training .
- Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks .
- Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- A high school diploma or GED .
- Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy. You must be eligible for registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy and register within 6 months of hire .
- Ability to perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds .
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program .
- Certified Pharmacy Technician ( CPhT ) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). CPhT through the PTCB is required within 18 months of hire .
- Six months of hospital experience .
