- Position Summary
- The Pharmacy Technician III is an expert Pharmacy Technician who possesses in depth knowledge and experience gained from working with multiple similar situations within the pharmacy department, over time. A Pharmacy Technician II who has at least two years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician/Intern, including at least one year of pharmacy technician/intern experience at Maine Medical Center, is eligible to voluntarily apply for advancement to the Pharmacy Technician III, once all criteria are met. The Pharmacy Technician III assists the pharmacist by preparing and distributing medications, maintaining drug inventory and pertinent patient records. The Pharmacy Technician III identifies opportunities for improvement in work processes and actively contributes to the implementation of improvement efforts. This position functions as the highest level of the Pharmacy Technician Career Advancement Program and serves as a resource/mentor for other Pharmacy Technicians. Additionally, the Pharmacy Technician III will perform other related and assigned duties. Failure to maintain the requirements of a Pharmacy Tech III can lead to demotion to a Pharmacy Tech II.
- Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Education: High school diploma or GED certificate preferred. Associates Degree is preferred.
- License/Certifications: PTCB certificate is required. Currently licensed as a pharmacy technician in the State of Maine or currently eligible consistent with the current State of Maine Board of Pharmacy requirements.
- Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of pharmacy technician/intern experience including one (1) year of pharmacy technician/intern experience at Maine Medical Center.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Ability to assist in meeting the pharmaceutical care needs of all patients.
- Meets and maintains the requirements of the Pharmacy Technician Level III application process.
