Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Specialty Pharmacy Tech is under direct supervision of a registered Pharmacist and assists in all phases of pharmacy functions in an Outpatient/Specialty Pharmacy setting. Responsibilities include prescription entry, insurance processing, prior authorization initiation, sterile and non-sterile product preparation, prescription filling, and working with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure medications are delivered to patients in a safe and timely manner. Common tasks include patient onboarding, patient care coordination, adherence and reminder calls, cold chain distribution and shipping activities, maintenance of pharmacy inventory, and reimbursement audits and follow up.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 1 year experience healthcare experience. Ability to speak, read and write the English language. Ability to speak, read and write Spanish is strongly preferred. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively interface with Doctors, Nurses, Social Workers, and other hospital employees. A good team player. Proven attention to detail. Knowledge of USP 797 and USP 800 requirements for sterile compounding is a plus. Minimum typing skills of 30 wpm with knowledge of various computer applications and systems. Knowledge of various Pharmacy systems, including but not limited to Cerner, Microsoft Teams, and CoverMyMeds is a plus.
Education/Licensure/Certifications: Graduate of a Pharmacy Technician School. Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB ) preferred. California Pharmacy Technician License
Hours: Day/Evening/Saturday shifts consisting of 8 hour shifts between hours of 7am and 7pm Mon-Fri and 9-5 on Saturdays; shifts and days of the week will vary
