Pharmacy Technician - Galesburg, IL
Compensation: $18.50 - $20.50 hourly
Overview: Nexus HR is looking for a Pharmacy Technician for a reputable, technology-powered, growth-minded, and well-backed pharmacy in Galesburg, IL. The ideal candidate must have an active Illinois Board of Pharmacy Technician’s License and 1 year of experience working as a Pharmacy Technician.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Prescription Processing & Medication Review:
Process new prescription orders using telepharmacy systems or online platforms.
Verify patient details, including insurance information, dosage, and medication accuracy.
Prepare and dispense medications, adhering to legal and safety guidelines.
Patient Communication & Support:
Answer patient inquiries via phone, video, or secure messaging systems.
Provide medication counseling, including instructions for use, potential side effects, and interactions.
Resolve patient issues related to prescriptions, billing, or insurance.
Collaboration with Pharmacy Team:
Work closely with pharmacists and technicians to maintain workflow and timely prescription fulfillment.
Participate in virtual team meetings for updates and process improvements.
Assist with inventory management, including medication stock monitoring and restocking.
Compliance & Documentation:
Maintain accurate records following pharmacy laws and regulations (HIPAA, FDA, state regulations).
Maintain accurate logs for prescriptions, patient interactions, and any required audits.
Assist in maintaining the safety of medications and other pharmacy supplies, ensuring proper storage and handling
Technology Use & Troubleshooting:
Operate telepharmacy software for processing prescriptions and managing data.
Troubleshoot technical issues with telepharmacy systems, coordinating with IT as needed.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year experience as a Pharmacy Technician is required.
Active Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) license in Illinois is required.
Strong background in customer service and retail pharmacy.
Familiarity with medication procurement processes.
Excellent communication skills, both in-person and virtual.
Ability to adapt to a telepharmacy environment.
Above-average typing skills.
Adept at reading/interpreting prescription terminology and medications.
Able to function in a close team environment.
Able to meet specified production and quality standards.
Able to identify and recognize commonly used generic drugs and the route of administration.
Able to identify common Latin symbols in prescriptions.
Able to calculate dosage and days supply.
Possess high levels of reliability, accuracy, professionalism, and customer focus
