Pharmacy Technician, Call Center - Empower Pharmacy

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist patients with medication-related inquiries, including medication availability, pricing. 
• Process prescription orders and refill requests accurately and efficiently, verifying patient information and prescription details. 
• Handles incoming calls and inquiries promptly and professionally, escalating complex issues as needed.Answers 70-100 incoming calls per 8-hour shift.  
• Performs pharmaceutical calculations, such as day supply and dosage. 
• Processes new and refilled prescription orders. 
• Faxes and/or calls doctors for refill requests. 
• Checks voicemails and returns customer calls. 
• Responsible for collaborating with pharmacists and other colleagues to ensure effective and efficient customer service.  
• Informs patients of tracking status on their orders. 
• Checks and verifies invoices/charges.  
• Scans and files orders in appropriate folders.  
• Reads and understands prescription orders.  
• Navigates multiple internal computer systemsto maintainaccurate and up to date databases.  
• Organizes and maintains cleanliness of working areas, supplies, and equipment. 
• Adhere to all pharmacy policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws governing pharmacy practice. 
• Maintains confidentiality and ensuresHealth Insurance Portability and Accountability Actcompliance by protecting the privacy and security of protected health information. 
• Performs other duties as assigned.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and listen. • Able to do dosage calculations (add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement).

Experience and Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent. A college education is preferred but not required.  
• I registered with the Texas Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician. 
• One year of pharmacy experience or healthcare-related experience preferred.  
• Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
