Shift can start any time from 7:30am - 9:30am, but an 8 hour shift must follow
Every 3rd Weekend 8.5-hour shift; 30 min unpaid lunch; comp day during the week for weekends worked
2+ years experice required, CPHT required
Strong Candidates will have retail experience and additional experiences as a lead tech, specialty pharmacy, prior authorizations, or a job requiring strong communication skills
Summary:
Responsible for processing prescriptions through the pharmacy system including adjudication of claims to third party insurance plans on the patient care units, assist with filling medication orders (timely and accurately), collect medication histories as part of the medication reconciliation process, and participate in multidisciplinary rounds. The DDP Technician facilitates the delivery of medications to patients and their families in the hospital and clinic setting, coordinates payments and communicate issues to the pharmacist and to the Prior Authorization Team as needed. Excellent communication skills are required for interacting with patients and their families via telephone and/or in person. Additional responsibilities include participation in service line meetings as required, inventory management, processing co-pay cards issued by drug company programs for eligible patients and completing prior authorizations according to the volume on the assigned unit. The successful candidate will be conscientious and focused on all patient needs relative to the discharge medication process.
This role specifically requires candidates to communicate with multiple providers, insurance companies, specialty pharmacies, and other aspects of discharge medication management. All roles of a normal technician are also expected to be proficient such as production, prescription processing, delivery..
Education or Equivalent Experience:
High school graduate/equivalent is required.
