Pharmacy Technician 2
The purpose of the position it to provide comprehensive dispensing and clinical pharmaceutical services to the clinic and pharmacy patients and to other professional staff as well as overseeing pharmacy technicians and other subordinates in performing technical and clerical functions.
Essential Functions
- Accurately prepare and provide medications as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and adherence to legal standards.
- Using the pharmacy management system, manage crucial technical and clerical tasks to ensure smooth pharmacy operations.
- Maintain accurate medication inventory, including stocking and organizing pharmaceutical supplies.
- Shows exceptional skills with cash handling.
- Exhibits understanding of EPIC as a resource to message health providers.
- Masters technical job functions such as explaining insurance issues to patients, reminding staff of insurance techniques and caveats, and troubleshooting miscellaneous processing errors.
- Shows efficiency and accuracy in prescription processing.
- Ensure adherence to all regulatory and policy requirements in pharmacy practices.
- Demonstrates outstanding customer service, answering and triaging phone calls, and communicating frequently with both patients and providers.
- Exhibits a positive attitude when welcoming our patients and shows caring and empathy when our patients face challenges.
- Shows empathy to our patients and works to assist customers appropriately.
- Works well with team members
- Assist pharmacists and healthcare staff in delivering efficient pharmaceutical services.
- Informs clinic providers of prescription issues.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants are encouraged to upload license and certification if required of the position.
- Valid California Pharmacy Technician License.
- Knowledge of current generic and brand name drugs, abbreviations, and drugs on current formulary.
- Ability to interpret and understand physician orders, pharmacy, and nursing records.
- Ability to perform pharmacy calculations accurately.
- Knowledge of current California Pharmacy Law.
- Knowledge of current Medi-Cal Formulary and other third-party billing systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of pharmacy terminology.
- Obtain and maintain BLS Certification
Preferred Background
- Recent experience working in an outpatient pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Familiarity with current HIV/AIDS drugs and treatment regimens.
- Recent involvement with HIV/AIDS
- Ability to operate pharmacy computer systems and other software programs.
- American Pharmacist Association (APhA) certification.
