Essential Functions

• Pharmacy Technician 2 is accountable for assisting pharmacists in the retrieval, processing, preparation and distribution of medications and sterile products for patient administration. These activities include but are not limited to: unit dose medications and IV admixtures, parenteral nutrition, floor stock pharmaceuticals, controlled substances, and other defined systems.
• Accurate preparation of patient medications including sterile products, chemotherapy, unit dose, cartfills, TPN, narcotics.
• Accurate and timely delivery of patient specific medications.
• Timely delivery and retrieval of patient medications.
• Inventories, replenishes, and maintains drug stock which includes automated dispensing cabinets.
• Assist the Pharmacist with medication/patient care related issues.

Qualifications

Education

• High School Equivalent / GED Required
• Graduate of an accredited pharmacy technician program Required

Work Experience

• Prior experience as a pharmacy technician in a hospital or community setting Preferred

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Understanding of metric system and basic math concepts. Required
• Good communication skills are essential. Required
• Basic knowledge of pharmacy computer systems, TPN compounders, automated dispensing cabinets, calculators, and facsimile machines are. Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) Required
