Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist the Pharmacy Technician participates in pharmaceutical care by assisting the pharmacist in drug preparation, drug distribution, purchasing and inventory control, drug packaging, and drug delivery.

Required Qualifications:

• Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the California State Board of Pharmacy. 

• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Preferred Qualifications:

• Shall have 1 year hospital Pharmacy Technician Experience

• Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms

Physical Requirements: 1) Standing and walking 80%, 20% sitting of time 2) Lifting and carrying of supplies up 24 pounds including boxes, equipment, unit dose cassettes, and IV solution and stooping or kneeling (ex: pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves, and to file documents in lower file drawers.) 3) Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity necessary for typing and computer order entry. 4) Normal range of hearing and vision to perform work and communication.
