A Brief Overview
The Coordinator of Pharmacy Quality & Safety is responsible for ensuring pharmacy and medication management compliance with regulatory agencies and is the medication safety pharmacist. He/she is responsible for proactive performance improvement activities related to compliance, quality and medication safety in the pharmacy and throughout the health system. This coordinator will serve as the Pharmacist-In-Charge on record with the NJ Board of Pharmacy (NJBOP) and fulfill relegated requirements as such.
What you will do
- Serves as the Pharmacist-in-Charge on record with the NJBOP and CSOS coordinator, fulfilling all responsibilities as dictated in the New Jersey Administrative Code Title 13, Law & Public Safety, Chapter 39, State Board of Pharmacy.
- Ensures continual compliance and remains up-to-date with all standards, laws and regulations governing the physical structure and personnel performance in the institutional pharmacy department and related to medication management enterprise wide.
- Coordinates closely with Manager, Pharmacy Inpatient Services and Manager, Clinical Pharmacy related to controlled dangerous substance oversight, medication storage and security and personnel oversight related to quality, compliance and safety.
- Develops, maintains and coordinates quality assurance and performance improvement programs for the pharmacy department and medication management system.
- Reviews and responds to medication events, trends and reports to committees as assigned.
- Leads development, maintenance and performance improvement of key medication safety initiatives to promote a safe medication use system.
- Maintains and updates the Pharmacy Policy and Procedure Manual, medication-related policies in the hospital manuals, and Pharmacy regulatory educational materials to ensure compliance with the regulatory requirements.
- Leads and participates in education of pharmacy staff, pharmacy students, nursing, and other healthcare professionals.
- Serves on the pharmacy leadership team with direct reports which may include and are not limited to the Pharmacy Project Coordinator, Procurement team.
- Leads and participates in hospital wide committees and activities related to area of practice.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education Qualifications
- Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) required
- Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY-1 Residency +/- completion of PGY-2 in Pharmacy Administration highly preferred
Experience Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a hospital pharmacy required
- Pharmacy Quality & Safety experience preferred
- Pharmacy leadership experience preferred

- PHARMD - Licensed Pharmacist Registered Pharmacist in the State of New Jersey upon hire required
