POSITION SUMMARY
The Pharmacy Patient Assistance Navigator (PPAN) acts as the lead pharmacy staff member responsible for assisting patients in obtaining drug replacement and/or co-pay/co-insurance assistance for medication received in the hospital or cancer centers in which the patient cannot afford the medication therapy. The PPAN ensures software and industry competency in obtaining, submitting and recording all applications and receipt of medication and/or co-pay/co-insurance assistance and as necessary training of all pharmacy staff involved with parts of the process. The position supports the entire Pharmacy Service Line and Health System including all organizational and departmental objectives and activities related to financial stewardship and business growth. This position in times of need may require functioning as Pharmacy Technician as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree preferred or years of experience as outlined below required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: New Jersey Registration required. National Pharmacy Technician Certification required.
EXPERIENCE: 5 years pharmacy experience required, preferably with supervisory experience or training. 1 year experience as an AtlantiCare Pharmacy Technician required. Proficiency in respective Pharmacy Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 60 days from date of hire.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates the technical competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury.
Requires standing and walking twenty percent of the time.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports to the Corporate Director of Pharmacy Services and as needed to pharmacy department leadership. Provides direction to incumbents, as assigned.
