Responsibilities & Requirements
KH Pharmacy Med Assistance Counselor
The Pharmacy Medication Assistance Counselor will report to the KH Outpatient Pharmacy manager and work directly with the clinical pharmacist and patients at the Kettering Cancer Center. The MAC will complete benefit investigation, initiate and complete prior authorizations, and assess patient financial assistance needs. Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Minimum Education
- • High school diploma or GED
Minimum Work Experience
- • Retail or Specialty Pharmacy
Required Licenses
- [Ohio, United States] Pharmacy Technician
- • Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician
Required Skills
- • Preferred knowledge of patient assistant programs • Experience with Windows and Excel • Preferred prior experience with EPIC • Preferred Oncology knowledge • Comply with state and federal drug laws KH policies and Procedures • Ability to work in self -directed manner to accomplish goals • Strong advocate for both patients and hospital system • Excellent written and oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Essential Functions
- The PMAC will demonstrate knowledge of outpatient pharmacy processes and general understanding of prescription insurance. The MAC will play an integral part in developing and implementing oral oncolytic treatment plans and fulfilling duties as assigned. The MAC will proactively attempt to obtain free or discounted pharmaceuticals from manufacturers, patient assistance programs, or other sources. The MAC is knowledgeable of all Network patient assistance programs, insurance coverage determinants for medication coverage, available community and national resources, financial need requirements, and Epic. Working closely with financial counselors, social workers, and clinical staff to obtain the needed clinical and financial information to obtain maximal assistance is an integral function of the position.
