The **UW MEDICINE PHARMACY DEPARTMENT** has an outstanding opportunity for a **PHARMACY IT ANALYST.** **WORK SCHEDULE**
- 40 hours per week
- Day Shift
**POSITION HIGHLIGHTS**
- Work closely with the other Epic application teams in support of the EpicCare Willow Inpatient and Ambulatory application to ensure that the electronic health record (EHR) will allow for safe and efficient care to our patients
- Assist with planning, designing, and implementing Epic Pharmacy enhancements and major upgrades, and will be a member of the Epic Pharmacy team, reporting to the pharmacy IT manager
- The application environment within UW Medicine includes departmental systems and clinical repositories. The EHR will be Epic at all sites and within most departments. An understanding of the applications and their integration with Epic is critical to the Pharmacy IT Application Analysts' success along with clinical pharmacy knowledge at a high level. This position will be working with over 6,000 medication records.
**PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Maintain expertise in all aspects of Epic Willow pharmacy and clinical applications in order to analyze, design, build/configure, validate, implement, and provide ongoing maintenance for Epic pharmacy and clinical applications tools and system functionality
- Participate in system design, build, validation, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the Epic Willow pharmacy and other Epic Clinical Applications
- Thoroughly document and understand providers' practice methods, clinic operations, processes, and patient interactions, and how Epic Willow pharmacy and Epic Clinical Applications support these processes
- Work with practices to make system changes, workflow changes, and other system design decisions that support clinic operations while maintaining team standards and allowing for sustainable long-term maintenance
- Leverage best practices and documentation provided by Epic through its Epic UserWeb and Community Library
- Develop and execute test plans and test cases for usability, performance and adherence to standards
- Provide expert knowledge to optimize the design and development of systems
- Serve as an Epic-certified expert resource to UW Medicine staff by anticipating and identifying educational, procedural, and functional issues associated with the implementation and use of new applications. Mentor Epic Pharmacy Analyst teammates on how to perform these functions
- Provide supportive and positive mechanisms for reporting application and system deficiencies, and facilitate reporting of suggestions for system improvements
- Translate users' requirements into effective business cases, functional specifications, technical specifications, and other requirements documentation
Strong candidates will have:
- Experience in an inpatient and/or ambulatory pharmacy setting
- Experience in implementing or supporting an Epic clinical system
- Experience with Epic Beacon
- Demonstrated ability to work with and facilitate multidisciplinary clinician groups as part of the clinical information system support
- Familiarity with multiple operating systems and hardware platforms, and their integration into various applications and equipment
- Knowledge of Health Care regulatory environment and fluent in computer and healthcare related concepts and vernacular
- Experience educating clinical staff in the use of Epic
**REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS**
- Active Pharmacist license and 2-3 years of experience in the following:
- EpicCare Ambulatory, Willow Inpatient, and/or Willow Ambulatory experience or related certification
- Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, escalate appropriately, communicate clearly, and learn quickly, with strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with customers to build strong and effective relationships through building trust, imparting knowledge, and providing excellent customer service
- Skilled in use of desktop computers, including proficiency with office applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook) and Project Applications
- Familiarity with database structures, data definitions, and data relationships
