Under the supervision of the Pharmacy Manager or Director of Pharmacy, collaboaration with other pharmacy and clinical staff, the Pharmacy Delivery Driver provides support to assure that Jane Pauley Community Health Center (JPCHC):
- operates a fully compliant, patient-centered, retail pharmacy service, and
- is positively impacting JPCHC patients’ wellness, health, and chronic disease management through meaningful integration of pharmacy expertise and customer service
Job Responsibilities: Pharmacy Driver
- Delivery of Medications: Safely deliver prescription medications, over-the-counterproducts, and medical supplies to customers, including patients’ homes, hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities
- Accurate Order Handling: Ensure all packages are delivered in the correct quantities and to the right location, and that prescriptions are checked for accuracy before delivery
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service, ensuring patients and healthcare professionals are satisfied with the delivery process. Communicate any delivery issues, delays, or special requests with patients or pharmacy staff
- Route Planning: Plan and follow the most efficient delivery routes to minimize delays and fuel consumption, while adhering to delivery schedules
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies. Ensure proper handling and storage of medications during transport and maintain confidentiality regarding patient information (HIPAA compliance)
- Inventory Management: Assist with loading and unloading deliveries, ensuring all items are properly secured for transport. Occasionally assist with inventory tracking and organizing stock as needed
- Vehicle Maintenance: Maintain the delivery vehicle, ensuring it is clean, fueled, and in good working condition. Report any mechanical issues promptly to management
- Documentation: Keep accurate records of deliveries, including delivery logs, patient signatures, and proof of delivery when required. Report any discrepancies or issues that arise during delivery
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Proven experience as a delivery driver, courier, or in a similar role (experience in pharmacy or healthcare delivery is a plus)
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to follow delivery instructions and prioritize tasks effectively
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
- Ability to lift and carry packages weighing up to 25 pounds
- Familiarity with GPS and route planning software is preferred
- Knowledge of local roads and traffic patterns is a plus
