Position Summary:
The Pharmacy Buyer and Contract Manager is responsible for systems and outcomes in the following areas:
• Purchases all pharmaceuticals used at Northeast Hospital Corp. licensed locations
• Maintains appropriate inventory levels
• Monitors Drug Shortages and evaluates contingency plans to assure patient care is not affected
• Maintains Contract compliance, monthly reporting, dispensing patterns, and inventory process
• Implements and assures compliance with all purchasing and inventory control procedures
• Implements processes and maintains all necessary records to comply with all Federal and State Regulations regarding purchasing and recordkeeping for pharmaceuticals including controlled substances
• Maximizes purchases through the 340B Drug Discount Program and maintains all records to document compliance with requirements of the program.
• Aggregates purchasing history data to optimize savings.
• Evaluates key indicators and metrics to enhance cost savings of pharmaceuticals. Implements cost savings strategies.
• Streamline supply chain and other applicable processes using Lean methodology.
• Is a member of the pharmacy leadership team and collaborates on planning, organizing and operating the department to achieve goals, meet customer expectations and assure high quality services and products
• Performs related administrative functions and handles special projects as assigned.
• Reports to the Manager of Pharmacy Operations
• Other miscellaneous duties
Education/Experience:
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in finance, Business or Accounting Preferred
• Financial operations and/or pharmacy operations experience in healthcare environment preferred
• Prior purchasing experience with an emphasis in contract and inventory management
• High degree of specialized knowledge in informatics and technology with an emphasis on automated pharmaceutical dispensing and information systems
• High degree of knowledge and skill in business products such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
