Pharmacists interpret and evaluate medication orders. Pharmacists prepare and dispense medications in addition to advising healthcare providers and patients regarding optimal and cost effective utilization of specialty medications.

Bachelors degree in Pharmacy, Doctor of Pharmacy preferred. Current and unrestricted New Mexico Board of Pharmacy License required. Required - NM Pharmacist Vaccination Prescribing Authority Certification. Preferably more than one year experience in clinical residency or equivalent work experience. Has acquired the necessary practice skills in order to appropriately evaluate medication orders. Skills acquired through experience or self-study

*Verification of medication orders for accuracy and appropriateness. Review of medication profiles. Assists in the resolution of drug therapy problems.
*Use a systematic approach to address medication information needs by effectively searching, retrieving, and evaluating the literature and appropriately communicating and applying the information to the patient care situation.
*Reviews, updates and maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, QA program, clinical procedures, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
*Packages, labels and dispenses medications according to policy
*Maintains proper inventory control and storage of medications and supplies.
*Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-services, industry conferences and workshops.
*Oversees the activities of technicians, interns and students. Participates in training pharmacists, technicians, students and residents.
*Consults with and advises healthcare providers regarding optimal and cost effective utilization of drugs. Where appropriate, documents clinical activities.
*Provides clinical guidance for the Patient Management Program.
