Clinical Pharmacist Specialist - Solid Organ Transplant
Virtus Healthcare Staffing is actively engaged in a search for a Clinical Pharmacist Specialist - Solid Organ Transplant for our esteemed partner, a Level III Trauma Center located in Houston, TX. This role is designed for a highly skilled clinical pharmacist with a focus on solid organ transplant, ready to bring expertise and dedication to an innovative healthcare environment.
Position Overview: In this role, the Clinical Pharmacist Specialist will provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care to solid organ transplant patients, collaborating with the transplant team to optimize medication therapy and enhance patient outcomes. Key responsibilities include active participation in clinical rounds, the development and implementation of medication protocols, and providing education to patients and healthcare providers on transplant-specific pharmaceutical care.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for licensure.
Experience: The ideal candidate must meet one of the following criteria:
- Completion of an ASHP-accredited post-graduate year one (PGY1) residency program, or equivalent experience (three years of clinical pharmacy experience per residency year); ASHP-accredited post-graduate year two (PGY2) or fellowship preferred.
- At least three years of clinical practice experience.
- Ability to meet the center's ASHP-Qualified Residency Preceptor standards within one year of employment.
Licensure & Certifications: The selected candidate must hold or obtain the following within 90 days of hire:
- Texas Pharmacist License and Texas Pharmacist Preceptor Certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification for pharmacists regularly assigned to Code Blue events.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certifications if applicable to the primary work assignment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
- Intravenous (IV) Certification through ACPE, if applicable to primary work assignment.
