Job Summary
Battelle’s Energy Division is currently seeking an experienced Petrophysicist . This position is located in Columbus, OH, but will consider remote locations.
As a Petrophysicist , the selected individual will provide petrophysical support for CCUS projects including drilling operations and formation evaluation. The successful candidate will work with the geoscience and reservoir engineering staff for project technical support and mentor more junior geoscientists.
Examples of responsibilities based on current or anticipated projects include:
+ Petrophysical well log analysis and modeling
+ Wireline logging program design and bid proposal
+ Drilling operations support including wireline logging, sampling, and core evaluation
+ Design and oversight of post well analysis and special core analysis
+ Experience providing input information to, and working with Static Earth Models
+ Mentoring staff on petrophysical evaluation workflows
+ Cased hole/ surveillance program design and evaluation
+ Petrophysical data management
+ Regulatory documentation and support
Key Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Geophysics or closely related discipline with 6 years of experience as a Petrophysicist in O&G or CCUS industries or Master’s Degree in Geology, Geophysics or closely related discipline with 4 years of experience as a Petrophysicist in O&G or CCUS industries or PhD with 1 year of relevant experience.
+ Thorough understanding of standard logging analysis, core analysis, and reservoir properties, general subsurface geologic understanding a plus.
+ Expertise in petrophysicial well log evaluation, designing well evaluation programs, special core analysis, working with advance logs such as image logs and NMR, and data integration.
+ Experience with hard rock, soft rock, and various lithologies in US basins.
+ Calculate mechanical rock properties from well logs and cores.
+ Capillary pressure modeling.
+ Proficient with petrophysicial evaluation software such as Techlog®, Geolog®, or IP®
+ Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to represent Battelle or its clients at conferences or public forums.
+ Travel required, up to 10%.
+ Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Master’s Degree in Geology, Geophysics or closely related discipline.
+ Minimum 10 years of experience as a Petrophysicist in O&G or CCUS industries.
