Responsibilities:Job Purpose
The Personal Trainer Instructor is responsible for sharing their passion for health and fitness with others by providing fitness guidance and training sessions. Personal Trainers enjoy interacting with members and guests to promote fitness program and activities. Under the direction of management, the Personal Trainer serves an important role in delivering assessment, instruction, and personal training to promote safety and wellness.
Responsibilities
- Acknowledge, greet and thank all members and guests
- Design individual exercise programs geared to each member’s needs and capabilities by providing instruction on equipment use, proper form, principles of exercise physiology and potential warning signs; encourage continued participation by tracking and demonstrating fitness progress
- Conduct fitness appraisals of members by weighing, measuring, conducting fitness tests, checking blood pressure, heart rate and lung capacity, identifying risk factors and instructing members on proper form and injury prevention
- Promote use of facility and programs by providing excellent customer service; greeting members by name; maintaining an atmosphere that motivates long-term participation and member retention
- Provide ongoing benefits to members by assisting in the development of health education curricula including nutrition and lifestyle modification techniques
- Protect the organization, members and guests by adhering to safety guidelines
- Inspect, clean and maintain exercise equipment regularly
- Handle member/guest service issues in a prompt and effective manner, notifying supervisor of member/guest concerns
- Maintain strict adherence to AGC personal appearance standards
- Implement and support all AGC initiatives and programs as requested by management
- Other duties may be assigned by management
Qualifications:
Qualifications
- Current CPR and First Aid required
- Ability to communicate effectively with members, co-workers and management
- Ability to operate all weight room and cardio equipment
- Ability to assist or “spot” members and guests
- Valid driver’s license required
Education
4 Year College Degree in Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, Exercise Physiology, Physical Education or certification by a recognized institution and 5 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Working Conditions
- Days and hours of work vary by schedule and business needs.
- Evening, weekend, and holiday work will be required.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand for long periods of time, to walk, read, hear, talk, balance, climb, use hands, use fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, smell, taste, push or pull. The employee may be required to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
