Personal Injury Associate Attorney
Responsibilities:
- Assign responsibilities and supervise a team comprising litigation paralegals, legal assistants, personal injury paralegals, case managers, and legal secretaries.
- Oversee personal injury cases from initiation through resolution.
- Engage in effective communication with clients, expert witnesses, insurance adjusters, supporting witnesses, and medical providers to compile necessary information.
- Edit, assess, and compose demand letters, legal pleadings, motions, discovery responses, subpoenas, memoranda, and other legal documents.
- Represent clients in a variety of legal proceedings such as hearings, trials, mediations, depositions, and other litigation activities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of case statuses using the case management system.
- Conduct thorough and precise depositions.
- Advocate vigorously on behalf of injured individuals, consistently achieving favorable outcomes for clients through strategic legal representation.
- Prepare cases thoroughly for trial.
- Diligently handle case files and provide regular updates to clients.
- Utilize knowledge of the New York Civil Practice Law and Rules (CPLR) and litigation strategies to navigate cases effectively.
- Facilitate efficient settlement of cases.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of handling plaintiff personal injury cases.
- Diligent and dependable work ethic.
- Mandatory membership in the State Bar Association and valid state license to practice law.
- Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree are required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of personal injury law, tort law, medical terminology, wrongful death cases, and the New York Civil Practice Law and Rules (CPLR).
- Capable of effectively managing a high volume of cases.
- Conducted over 75 depositions.
- Trial experience is a plus.
- SmartAdvocate software experience is a plus.
- Exceptional research, negotiation, drafting, and communication abilities.
- Desired understanding of civil and family law, medical malpractice, and additional aspects of personal injury law.
