Riverside University Health System's Community Health Clinic (RUHS - CHC) Pharmacy Department is seeking a Per Diem Pharmacy Technician II o join our Palm Springs Pharmacy team in Palm Springs.
The technician will work at the Palm Springs Pharmacy located at the Palm Springs Clinic and will function independently typing prescriptions orders, filling, and ringing up prescriptions for patients. In addition, they will also answer patient calls, manage inventory, and help pharmacists with other tasks or projects when needed.
Must be bilingual in Spanish.
Schedule: 4/10 Monday - Friday

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- The medication reconciliation technician will be working directly with patients admitted to the hospital to note all detailed medication and allergy histories in order to create an accurate medication list.
- The pharmacy technician will be using the patient (or family member) interview in addition to calling outside pharmacies to obtain accurate medication lists and enter the information into the electronic medical record/EPIC system.
- Incumbents will function as a safety net to help minimize medication related errors for the patients being admitted to the hospital.
- Process new prescriptions and/or medication orders.
- Prefill prescriptions/medication orders.
- Using Sterile Technique, compound IV's, TPN's and Chemotherapy agents for dispensing as needed.
- File prescriptions/medication orders as needed.
- Assist in control of the inventory.
- Work with other members of the hospital to ensure a cooperative work environment.
- Assist in the training and education of pharmacy technician students and pharmacist interns.
- Provide input and guidance to management and staff as needed.
- Work on other projects as assigned or as pertains to the pharmacy area.
- Works under supervision of the pharmacist.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Completion of a Pharmacy Technician training course in accordance with the California State Board of Pharmacy licensing requirements.
Experience: One year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a healthcare or community pharmacy.
License:Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a Pharmacy Technician issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy.
Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) valid certification is required for the position.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Condition of Employment
In accordance with the California Department of Public Health Order dated August 5, 2021, and amended December 22, 2021, health care facility workers who work in indoor settings where care is provided to patients or where patients have access for any purpose must be vaccinated against COVID-19 as follows: first dose of a one-dose regimen or second dose of a two-dose regimen, by September 30, 2021. Effective March 1, 2022, all healthcare facility workers must have their booster , obtain the booster within 15 days of becoming eligible for one, or a declination form on file for the booster. Consideration may be given to candidates who are in the process of completing their vaccination regimen.
The Order allows for workers to be exempt from the vaccination requirements by providing the facility with a declination form signed by the individual stating either of the following: (1) the worker is declining vaccination based on Religious Beliefs; or (2) the worker is excused from receiving any COVID-19 vaccine due to Qualifying Medical Reasons. Workers who are exempted from the vaccination requirements must observe all other infection control requirements, including face coverings and regular COVID testing at the frequency required by their work site.
A requirement of employment is to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination, or a completed COVID-19 Vaccination Declination form (filled out by the candidate and their medical provider as appropriate), during the pre-employment process. Failure to submit the required documentation may render a candidate ineligible to move forward in the process.

Per Diem employees participate in the 401(a) Temporary and Part-Time Employees' Retirement Plan and are required to contribute 3.75% of salary to the pension plan. The County contributes a matching amount.
