Peer Support Counselor at New Choices Recovery Center

Job Description: Peer Support Counselors assist individuals in recovery from mental health and addiction with setting and pursuing their recovery goals, monitoring their progress, lending assistance with treatment, modeling effective coping techniques and self-help strategies and supporting them in advocating for themselves to obtain effective services.^[2]

Education Requirements: Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent. Peer Support Counselor must have successfully completed a two-month peer mentoring training course provided by a recognized entity

Experience Requirements: Peer Support Counselor will be at least two years in recovery and be highly motivated to help others.. Must be able to work cooperatively as a member of a team comprised of professionally trained clinicians and counselors. Must possess Knowledge and experience with accessing local resources such as housing, medical, and social services. Candidate must have at least a high school education or equivalent. Reliable access to transportation.
