Today, the NCSB provides treatment and rehabilitation services to over 6,000 Norfolk citizens yearly. The NCSB is seeking to hire a Peer Recovery Specialist III in their Crisis & Acute Services division. The Peer Recovery Specialist III provides peer support services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for rapid response, assessment and early intervention to individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis. Services are deployed in real-time to the location of the individual experiencing a behavioral health crisis. The purpose of this service is to de-escalate the behavioral health crisis and prevent harm to the individual or others; assist in the prevention of an individual's acute exacerbation of symptoms and develop an immediate plan to maintain safety; and coordinate care and link to appropriate treatment services to meet the needs of the individual.
