Pediatric Infectious Diseases - University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children's - University Hospitals

The Department of Pediatrics at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Childrens Hospital is seeking a full-time, academic, board-certified or board-eligible faculty member to join the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases. The faculty members clinical responsibilities will consist of inpatient consultative services as well as general outpatient infectious disease clinic. In addition, the faculty member will have the opportunity to pursue research opportunities including population health, clinical trials or outcomes based research. Depending on the candidates interest, other opportunities include expansion of the transplant infectious diseases program or growth of antimicrobial stewardship into the outpatient space. The faculty member will have the opportunity to professionally advance their career into leadership roles related to education of fellows, residents and medical students. Both the hospital and affiliated Case Western Reserve University offer leadership training for those wishing to pursue larger administrative roles in their professional advancement.

The Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases currently has nine faculty members and three fellows. The hospital microbiology lab directors and full-time antimicrobial stewardship pharmacist are also active members of the division. Our antimicrobial stewardship program monitors use of all broad-spectrum antimicrobial agents. Our division actively participates in quality and infection control initiatives.  Current scientific areas of research include the role of immune activation and inflammation in HIV infected adults and children, the prevention and treatment of metabolic and cardiovascular complications of HIV, and the role of naturally acquired immunity in malaria in children. We are also actively growing our divisions participation in domestic clinical research. In addition to research and clinical activities, all division members actively participate in teaching of medical students, residents and fellows within the institution.

Rainbow Babies and Childrens Hospital is a tertiary care center located in Cleveland, Ohio and affiliated with Case Western Reserve University. University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Childrens Hospital is consistently ranked in U.S. News & World Reports Best Childrens Hospitals annual rankings. UH Rainbow ranks among the nations top 50 childrens hospitals in multiple medical and surgical specialties. The Division also has a long-standing ACGME-approved fellowship program.

An MD or MD/PhD degree, completion of fellowship training in Pediatric Infectious Diseases, and board eligibility or board certification required. Faculty rank is expected to be at the Assistant, Associate, or full Professor level, commensurate with experience.
