The Respiratory Care Practitioner evaluates pulmonary dysfunction and performs cardiopulmonary procedures to treat and care for the patient by means of respiratory therapy and ventilatory assistance.
Responsibilities:Essential Job Functions:

- RCP - Performs cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures, calculate test results, determine reliability, perform quality assurance, and evaluate implications of test results 15%
- RCP - Initiates and conducts therapeutic procedures, evaluates treatment efficacy, and modifies prescribed therapeutic procedures 65%
- RCP - Evaluates all clinical data to determine the appropriateness of the prescribed respiratory care, participates in the development of the respiratory care plan, and provides care using clinical patient care protocols 10%
- RCP - Assess patients need for respiratory care by interviewing patients, performing limited physical examinations, reviewing existing clinical data and recommending the collection of additional pertinent data 10%

Required Qualifications:
- Two (2) years experience as a licensed respiratory care practitioner, with minimum one (1) year experience in the work areas associated with certifications held
- Must possess PALS certification for pediatric trained RCP
- Must possess NRP or PALS certification
- Must possess NRP and PALS certification for NICU trained RCP
- Must be a graduate of an AMA approved Respiratory Care Program
- Must be a graduate of an AMA approved Respiratory Care Program and be Registered (RRT)
- Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care
- For NICU and pediatric trained RCPs, two (2) years’ experience as a licensed respiratory care practitioner, with minimum one (1) year experience in the work areas associated with certifications held
- Current RCP License or Work Permit from the State of California Respiratory Care Board. Must obtain RCP License prior to expiration of work permit
Preferred Qualifications:
- NRP certification if required to work in the NICU
- Must possess a minimum of two (2) of the following certifications: PALS (pediatric), ACLS (adult), or NRP (neonatal)
- Must be a graduate of an AMA approved Respiratory Care Program and be Registered (RRT) or registry eligible by the NBRC. Certificate of Completion/RRT credential must be provided
Licenses and Certifications:
- BLS (Required)
- ACLS (Required)
