Opportunity Overview
The increasing sophistication and high-performance nature of the Teradyne product line has resulted in a need for Senior Level PCB Designer/Engineer who can integrate with hardware engineering and participates as a key person in the PCB design workflow necessary to physically realize complex analog, digital and mixed-signal circuit designs.
The role serves as an interface function between PCB design resources, hardware engineering and manufacturing teams.
The position reports to the PCB Design and Product Manager.

Responsibilities
• Act as a PCB design engineer for complex circuit architecture / designs.
• On larger designs, support or lead PCB Design Engineer guiding the effort of the PCB Designers.
• Realize PCB designs of high component density and high layer count while balancing the competing needs of the electrical design (e.g., high speed signal routing, EMI / EMC, Signal Integrity) with those of the manufacturing standards (DFM and DFT).
• Capture PCB design requirements from the development engineering team.
• Participate in the estimation of PCB design efforts for scope of work and effort.
• Participate with fellow PCB designers in best practices for layout and simulation of high-speed signals as well as analog and power supply circuitry.
• Elicit layout technique best practices from senior design engineers and incorporate those best practices into the PCB Design Group (i.e., gather, document, train others).
• Team with Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure the highest quality PCB design developments.
• Ability to estimate the scope of PCB design efforts and predict milestones and schedules.
The products produced by Teradyne are dominated by technically sophisticated systems and equipment. Applicants for this position are expected to possess the following qualifications:
Practical understanding of analog, high-speed digital circuit, and RF design (a plus) and / or PCB design that practice these traits:
• PCB design, design processes, fabrication technology
• Signal integrity practices and theories
• Schematic / constraint capture
• Knowledge of leading-edge EDA tools (Cadence Allegro board design and schematic entry preferred. Knowledge of Cadence Librarian, Sprectra Quest SI and Valor DFM a plus.)
• Digital & analog PCB development

• Acute attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to assist with the capture, tracking and closure of action items resulting from design review meetings.
• A solid understanding of the physics and electrical principles of PCB design, particularly for signal integrity concerns, impedance control/matching and EMI/EMC mitigation.
• A solid understanding of high voltage engineering and layout expertise.
• Competence using PCB CAD tools with Cadence experience preferred.
• Competent in the use of MS Word, Excel and web-based applications.
• Good written and communication skills.
• Delivering presentations in support of design reviews.
