We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Payroll Tax Specialist. This is a permanent, full-time position that involves managing and executing payroll tax activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll taxes, compliance with regulatory requirements, and resolving any payroll tax issues. This role requires an individual with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of multi-state payroll tax regulations.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage and execute all aspects of payroll tax activities, including processing, reporting, and compliance for multi-state operations.
2. Ensure accurate and timely filing of federal, state, and local payroll tax returns.
3. Conduct regular audits to verify the accuracy of payroll tax data and make necessary adjustments.
4. Research and resolve payroll tax notices and discrepancies in a timely manner.
5. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changing payroll tax laws and regulations across multiple states and ensure company compliance.
6. Collaborate with the payroll team to ensure accurate payroll processing and tax deductions.
7. Provide expert guidance on payroll tax matters to the payroll team and other stakeholders.
8. Assist in the development and implementation of payroll tax policies and procedures to optimize efficiency and ensure compliance.
9. Coordinate with external auditors and provide necessary payroll tax reports and documentation.
10. Participate in special projects related to payroll tax as needed.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree desired but experience in lieu of degree considered.
2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll tax or a related role, preferably with a payroll service or PEO.
3. In-depth knowledge of multi-state payroll tax laws, regulations, and procedures.
4. Proficient in payroll systems and software, with strong Excel skills.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
6. Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
7. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex payroll tax information to non-technical stakeholders.
