About the Job
Our client, a payroll service firm, is looking for a committed and meticulous Payroll Tax Associate to join their team dedicated to simplifying payroll tax processes for their clients.
As a Payroll Tax Associate, you will be responsible for managing payroll tax discrepancies, serving as a point of contact for employees regarding their payroll tax, handling tax filings and amendments, and ensuring accurate calculations of payroll taxes.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and address discrepancies in employee payroll tax,
- Act as the primary point of contact for employees, answering their payroll tax related inquiries and resolving any issues promptly and professionally.
- Prepare and file payroll taxes accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Handle tax amendments when necessary, making adjustments to previously filed tax documents as required by changing tax laws or errors.
- Calculate and verify payroll tax deductions and contributions, including federal and state income tax, to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date records of payroll-related information, including tax filings, amendments, and employee payroll details.
Qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience in payroll administration, tax preparation, or a similar role is highly advantageous, especially in using payroll software and understanding payroll processes.
- Tax compliance knowledge with a strong grasp of federal, state, and local tax regulations and the ability to stay informed about changes in tax laws affecting payroll.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure precision and accuracy in payroll data and tax filings.
- Exceptional communication skills are vital for clear and professional interactions with employees, clients, and government agencies regarding payroll and tax matters.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team is crucial, especially when coordinating with colleagues from various departments to resolve payroll issues.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a fundamental skill for managing and analyzing payroll data, including the use of formulas, pivot tables, and other Excel features.
