Payroll Tax Accountant
ASRC Federal is seeking a Payroll Tax Specialist, within our Financial Shared Services team, to work in our Reston, VA location. This individual will be responsible for all components of the payroll tax processing, filing and payments for each payroll on a biweekly and weekly schedule.
The position is 100% in the office with 10% travel time. Essential job functions and responsibilities:
• Complete 941 Reconciliations for each quarter and year-end for all payroll general ledger accounts
• Coordinate new tax jurisdiction set up with legal and corporate tax departments
• Request new tax jurisdiction set up, closure, and changes with third party payroll provider
• Research and analyze all tax notices for federal, state, and local jurisdictions
• Process filings and payments for all tax jurisdictions that are not processed through third party provider
• Reconcile payroll each week for all corporate entities, for both biweekly and weekly payrolls
• W2 review and reconciliation
• Employee tax set up in payroll system
• Ensure correct employee tax forms are received
• Compliance with all tax jurisdictions, ensuring reciprocity and non-residency regulations
• Generate payroll tax reporting requirements for internal and external audit requests
• Review all third party filings, answers, and payments for accuracy
• Submit and file adjustments
• Work with the payroll team to support year-over-year tax changes with the third-party payroll system
Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Accounting/Finance or related field with at least 2-3 years of progressive, relevant Labor and Payroll Tax experience for a large government contractor required; equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
- Deltek Costpoint, Cognos, Dayforce and ADP experience required
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills along with strong customer service skills.
- Must be detail oriented and be able to work on routine tasks with little to no supervision.
- Ability to react quickly to emergency situations and creativity in dealing with difficult/challenging situation.
- Excellent communication, organizational, planning, and leadership skills
- Must have computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
