The Payroll Systems Analyst is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance/support of payroll systems activities associated with all aspects of payroll and time and attendance processing and systems and related systems/interfaces. Will work closely with Human Resources (HR), Digital Technology Services/Information Technology (DTS/IT), medical center personnel throughout the Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) network, vendors, and/or internal operations staff to design new or modify existing payroll information systems to meet changing requirements.
This is a fully remote position.
Responsibilities:A day in the life of a Payroll Systems Analyst at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Assist in business requirements gathering, accurately translating the needs to system functional requirements, and supporting DTS/IT in supporting the development projects.
- Provides/designs ad-hoc and standard payroll reports to clients.
- Acquires and retains in-depth knowledge of payroll and time and attendance system rules, table structure, and processing to effectively manage and resolve rule inconsistencies and incorrect calculations.
- Develop solutions to complex Payroll Systems situations or projects that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
- Act as subject matter expert on Payroll implementation projects, documentation, design, change management, cost estimation, project management, testing, production support, and auditing.
- Maintain a strong leadership role in the direction of Payroll system initiatives.
- Participate in all aspects of Payroll System implementations from project initiation through implementation.
- Participate in all system maintenance initiatives including upgrades and patches.
- Works actively to achieve system and change acceptance, not only within the HR Department but throughout HMH.
- Must be able to provide advice and counsel relative to best practices for Payroll and Time and labor, educating users on the different benefits and capabilities of technologies/Functionality.
- Maintains confidentiality of all payroll data; By not sharing team members' personal Information unless approved by the Director of Payroll systems or the Payroll VP and complies with all HMH data security guidelines and protocols.
- Perform ad-hoc projects and other department tasks as assigned.
- Responsible for managing the Ticket system from Employees/Leaders/Timekeepers requests on a rotational basis amongst the support team. This includes monitoring all Payroll processing failures and partnering with our technical group to provide solutions. Act as a liaison between the Payroll Operations team and the Technical team. 14. Participate in the Payroll processing of input files using HMH processes on a rotation basis.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
- Must have a general, effective understanding of payroll processing and related system activities and tax laws.
- Five or more years of experience with all aspects of Payroll configuration/processing with an ERP system.
- Five or more years of experience including documentation, design, change management, cost estimation, project management, testing, production support, and auditing.
- Five or more years of experience in report writing.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective knowledge of technological/automation theories, principles, and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask in a demanding environment coupled with good organization and communication skills managing complex multidisciplinary initiatives to improve processes.
- Requires clear, concise written and verbal communication skills to accurately articulate requirements, technical specifications, or issues in an effective manner with all technical and non-technical users, management, and non-management customers.
- Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
- Oracle, PSOFT, and Workday ERP system experience preferred.
- Knowledgeable in SQL design and understanding.
