The Payroll Specialist will process payroll for Globe's 130+ exempt and non-exempt employees. This role requires previous payroll experience, ERP experience and a general understanding of accounting principles. This position works cross-functionally with Accounting and Human Resources and interfaces with all departments and personnel through the payroll process. The successful applicant must thrive in fast-paced environments and possess a high level of attention to detail and confidentiality.
This position is located in Tacoma, WA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collect and organize daily/weekly time sheets ensuring all information is accurate including regular and overtime hour totals.
- Enter all timesheet data into accounting system ensuring accuracy.
- Research discrepancies of payroll information and/or documentation for the purpose of ensuring accuracy and adherence to procedures.
- Forward preliminary payroll report to managers for review and authorization.
- Accurately maintain records of changes affecting employee's net wages including insurance coverages, garnishments, 401k Plan deductions, etc.
- Produce federal, state, and local tax payments.
- Prepare periodic reports of earnings, taxes and deductions.
- Prepare and distribute paychecks.
- Field employee's payroll related questions and coordinate appropriate responses.
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of payroll policies and procedures ensuring they are communicated clearly and effectively to personnel.
- Ensure prompt and accurate payment of benefit premiums including medical, dental, and voluntary benefits.
- Assist in processing retirement contributions and participate in annual 401k audit.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Accounting required BA preferred.
- Minimum of two years experience processing high volume payroll required.
- Must possess strong experience with a fully integrated ERP accounting system.
- Must possess strong knowledge of multi-state payroll including state and local income tax withholding and wage withholding orders and garnishments.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically advanced Excel, required.
- Must possess a general understanding of accounting practices and principles.
- Demonstrated ability to perform effectively in a high volume environment with minimal errors and supervision required.
- Proven track record of being self-motivated and partnering with diverse team members and outside sources required.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently, retain a sense of urgency and meet strict timelines required.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and problem solve when faced with multiple input sources required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
- Conduct oneself with the highest level of professionalism, discretion and ethical standards.
