Job Summary:
We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage and oversee all aspects of payroll processing within our organization. The Payroll Specialist will ensure accurate and timely processing of employee payroll, compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and provide support for payroll-related reporting and audits. This role requires strong organizational skills, proficiency with payroll systems, and a thorough understanding of payroll practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and manage the company's payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Review and verify timekeeping records, deductions, and benefits.
- Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, and other payroll adjustments.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and tax regulations.
- Process garnishments, tax withholdings, and other deductions as required.
- Prepare and distribute paychecks or direct deposit statements.
- Maintain and update employee payroll records in the payroll system.
- Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve employee payroll-related inquiries.
- Generate and submit payroll reports for management, accounting, and audits.
- Prepare and file payroll tax returns and year-end reports, including W-2s and 1099s.
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure seamless payroll and benefits integration.
- Stay updated on changes in payroll regulations and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of payroll processing experience.
- Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, or similar) and timekeeping systems.
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to meet strict deadlines.
- Effective problem-solving and communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
