Payroll Specialist - Mainstream Engineering

About the Job
As a Payroll Specialist at Mainstream Engineering, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of our team's payroll. You will work closely with the Human Resources and Finance team to ensure that all payroll-related processes and procedures are followed and that timekeeping in payroll processes is flawless
Your primary duties and responsibilities will include:
- Accurately calculating and processing payroll, including taxes, employee benefits, garnishments, sick leave, and other payroll deductions
- Maintaining payroll records and ensuring all data is entered into the payroll system accurately and in a timely manner
- Verify and process weekly timecards and other payroll-related data.
- Providing excellent customer service by answering payroll-related questions and resolving any issues in a timely and efficient manner
- Maintaining accurate records and producing payroll reports
- Keeping up to date with changes in payroll laws and regulations and communicating any changes to clients
- Collaborating with the HR team to ensure employee records are up-to-date and accurate
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree in accounting, or a related field preferred
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation from the American Payroll Association (APA) is a plus.
- Other relevant certifications in payroll or accounting are beneficial.
- 3+ years of experience in payroll processing as a payroll clerk or specialist
- Knowledge of payroll regulations and tax laws
- Extensive work experience with employee payroll software (Sage and PayChex preferred)
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Google Sheets
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
