Vaco Phoenix is working with a stable and growing company, who is looking to add a payroll specialist to their fun and loose environment. This position requires the preparation, processing, and maintenance of basic payroll responsibilities as well as helping out in the accounting department. This position is perfect for someone looking to plant their roots and grow with a stable company. This is a contract to hire position, paying up to $70k/yr (DEO), and offering a hybrid work form home/in office schedule.

This role is full time (40hrs/week) located in Phoenix, AZ!
Duties and Responsibility:

Analyze, prepare, and validate payroll data. Leverage payroll system (Paylocity), to produce accurate and timely payroll. Ensure employees are paid accurately and on time including payroll related to new personnel, terminations, garnishments, commissions, and bonuses.
Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
Review and analyze current payroll and tax procedures in order to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations. Prepare payroll reports as requested.
Maintain Employee Stock Ownership Plan records and ensure the value of vested shares and withholdings are processed correctly.
Support 401K, workers compensation and other statutory audits as required.
Prepare bonus and commission accruals and track their payment; propose monthly journal entries to ensure amounts accrued reflect the expected liability.
Maintain alignment between the Company’s ERP system and HRIS system to assure cost center structure and departments are continuously in synch.
Ensure system compliance with data security and privacy requirements.

Desired experience:

Strong urge to learn and grow
3+ years of payroll processing experience
General accounting background
Ability to work in fast paced environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
