Vaco is representing a company located in West Hollywood that is seeking a Payroll Specialist to assist in processing payroll for the organization. This is a short-term contract role designed to support the payroll department during a peak period. The ideal candidate will have solid payroll processing experience and a strong attention to detail.
Position Overview:
The temporary Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing payroll for employees, ensuring that all payroll-related tasks are completed accurately and on time. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process payroll for employees accurately and on time, including hourly, salaried, and commission-based employees.
- Ensure proper deductions for taxes, benefits, and garnishments are applied to each paycheck.
- Review and verify timekeeping data, including timesheets, attendance, and leave balances.
- Maintain and update employee records in the payroll system.
- Assist with payroll-related inquiries and provide support to employees regarding pay discrepancies.
- Prepare and process tax filings, including federal, state, and local tax reports.
- Reconcile payroll-related accounts and ensure correct general ledger entries.
- Coordinate with HR to ensure the accuracy of employee data, including new hires, terminations, and benefit changes.
- Support the payroll department with year-end processing and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
- Assist in other payroll-related duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in a corporate or multi-location environment.
- Strong understanding of payroll processes, tax regulations, and labor laws.
- Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks, or similar systems).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reporting.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Pay: $30-35/hr

- the individual’s skill sets, experience and training;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
