Client Overview:
Our client is a long-standing NJ-based transportation organization that is looking to add a Payroll Manager. This organization is looking for an experienced professional who can work on a team just as effectively as they and work independently. A background and experience in general accounting and full-cycle payroll is a must.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$45/hr – $50/hr
Position Overview:
Payroll Manager applicants must have strong attention to detail and analytical skills. Looking for 5 – 10 years of experience in a senior and management level payroll position experienced in month-end close, accruals, fixed assets, and payroll processing using Oracle. Ideal candidate should be hard working, and comfortable with meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Experience working with Oracle Discoverer is a big plus. Must have payroll management and senior-level experience.
Responsibilities of the Payroll Manager:
- Collaborate and support department manager(s) in processing payroll functions required to produce scheduled and requested pays (both Regular Cycle and Off-Cycle,) including accurate deductions and taxes and resolution of system issues thereby ensuring timely and accurate payroll delivery.
- Responsible for reconciling and transmitting payroll data to General Ledger, Accounts Payable, the bank, and third-party vendors.
- Perform General Ledger account reconciliations, resolve payroll bank account reconciliation issues, and prepare manual journal entries as needed.
- Assist with full-cycle payroll processing and work with the payroll tax (multi-state).
- Assist with payroll deductions, adjustments, and weekly reporting.
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheets and general ledger accounts.
- Perform input, maintenance, and review of finances and expenses.
- Payroll Accounting.
Qualifications for the Payroll Manager:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Comprehensive experience working with Oracle and Oracle Discoverer.
- Multistate Payroll and Payroll Tax.
- General Accounting experience – journal entries, month-end, and financial reporting.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or a related field is a plus, but not a must-have.
