The Payroll Manager will oversee payroll for 400+ employees. They will manage the Senior Payroll Administrator along with relationships and processes with ADP. The Payroll Manager will ensure compliance with internal policies, as well as external local/state/federal regulations and tax requirements while partnering with People and Culture and Financial Planning and Analysis teams to ensure data flows timely and accurately between divisions.
Reporting to the Controller, you will:
- Oversee bi-monthly payroll process for 400 employees through ADP. Ensure salary and time are correctly allocated and in agreement with the most recent status change forms.
- Manage Senior Payroll Administrator, and provide support, training, coaching, and development.
- Manage Start Early’s relationship with ADP, including managing federal and state reports/filings and identifying updates and improvements to current software and workflow.
- Partner with People and Culture and Financial Planning and Analysis teams to ensure data flows timely and accurately between divisions.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, as well as external local/state/federal regulations and tax requirements.
- Work with various internal stakeholders to handle payroll-related inquiries and resolve any issues or errors promptly.
- Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives.
- Oversee processing of payroll changes (e.g. new hires, terminations, raises) and system upgrades.
- Develop and provide payroll metrics to internal stakeholders.
- Perform other job functions as assigned.
Qualifications:
- College diploma; Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) desirable but not required
- Related Experience: Minimum 5+ years of payroll experience required; with supervisory experience
- Competency in Excel; strong data entry management skills.
- Familiarity with ADP payroll software.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of payroll procedures and related laws across various States.
- Ability to process, protect, and exercise discretion in handling confidential information with strong attention to detail.
- Effectively establish and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and gain their trust and respect.
- Comfort and experience in handling risk and uncertainty to move work forward; problem solving skills.

Base Annual Salary: $85,000-$90,000
We believe that all employees should be paid fairly and equitably. As of the time of this posting, this is the expected base annual salary range. The base annual salary will be based on a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience, as well as business needs and limitations.
