The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and proactive Payroll Manager/General Accountant to join our dedicated team. In this key role, you will oversee payroll processing, manage accounting functions, and support various financial operations to ensure smooth and accurate payroll cycles and compliance. Payroll Management:
- Oversee and process bi-weekly payroll through ADP, ensuring accuracy and timely distribution.
- Maintain communication with department managers to collect and verify payroll data.
- Issue memos and manage employee tax withholding changes annually.
- Manage onboarding processes, including assigning time-off policies and holidays in ADP.
- Process payroll deductions (union, medical, dental, pension, retirement).
- Handle any payroll-related issues in collaboration with ADP support.
- Import payroll transactions into the MIP accounting system and ensure correct allocation.
- Manage monthly union and remittance processing.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and ensure time/attendance records are updated.
- Maintain and update employee records, including terminations, transfers, and reviews.
- Ensure accurate IRS 1094/1095 filing and annual EEO-1 report preparation.
General Accounting Responsibilities:
- Assist with maintaining compliance-related HR and accounting records.
- Provide support during year-end audits and federal, state, and city audits.
- Train managers and new hires on ADP processes.
- Serve as backup for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and wire transfers.
- Book monthly accruals, corrections, and adjustments.
- Assist CFO with additional accounting duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 3+ years of payroll processing experience with ADP, including handling complex payroll tasks.
- Strong organizational, communication (both verbal and written), and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to work well independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a unionized environment.
- Knowledge of MIP Accounting software.

This is a full-time, in-person position based in our Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn office.
