If this sounds like you, we should discuss our exciting opportunity at Hearst within our Newspaper division. We need a leaves expert who can shepherd our US based employees through leaves within CA, TX, MI, IL, NY, DC, FL, etc. You’ll be the primary point of contact for all leaves management, including Worker’s Compensation and Accommodations, for over 2,500 employees. The other half of your job will be managing the payroll administration for ~1,250 employees, reporting into the Hearst Newspapers Payroll Manager.
The ideal candidate is someone who is the perfect balance of data analytics and being a forward face of Human Resources in conjunction with our business partners. We need someone who can quickly learn our organization and processes, put into place additional process maps through strong project management, and execute as flawlessly as possible.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Maintain OSHA logs for various locations
- Conduct biweekly payroll audits and coordinate corrections with the Central payroll
- Manage our timecard system and serve as the local SME for multiple properties
- Conduct injury reviews, and provide recommendations back to HR business partners
- Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends
- Manage all leaves from request through return to office
- Partnering with Finance on reporting requirements as needed
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Payroll certifications and/or PHR/SPHR/SHRM Certification a plus.
- In-depth knowledge and work experience within HR with 3+ years of experience in any of the following; leave management, payroll, data analytics
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; an ability to objectively analyze current practices, identify process improvement opportunities and successfully influence and implement appropriate changes.
- Knowledge of Federal and California state labor laws and the ability to apply those legal requirements to complex situations in the workplace.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- The ability to work independently in a fast-paced business with a highly networked and geographically diverse team.
